Uncle Jim's Gourmet Cooking

A few days ago I was planning out our weekly dinner menu. One of the side dishes I planned on making was Jim's "Oh Rice Salad," so I had his cookbook out on the counter. Isaac was intrigued by it and started asking about it. When I told him it was a cookbook Uncle Jim had made, he said, "Oh, do they like to cook?!" I said, "yeah, they're really good cooks - gourmet cooks."
"Gourmet? What's that mean?"
"Well, it means they cook as well as the stuff you'd get in restaurants." (That seemed like a simple enough answer for a 5 year old.)

All of a sudden, after Isaac had a second to let my answer marinate, he said with really big, wide eyes and an enthusiasm that always seems to go hand-in-hand with food for Isaac, "You mean like corndogs?!!!"

Sigh...

"No, not like corndogs!"

Clearly, I don't cook gourmet...

Two preschool graduates

Isaac graduated from Broadmoor Community Preschool on May 14th. He loved his time at BCP, but he really wasn't sad at all because he's so excited for Kindergarten and summertime.
ACE then graduated from Love Club Bible Preschool the following week. He's going to be in pre-kindergarten at First Pres Preschool next fall.

Here's a photo of both boys starting preschool two years ago in September of 2008 and then a few from the last couple days of school this year! They've both grown so much!

Just before heading out the door for his last day of preschool. He looks SO old!

Isaac and Ms. Susann at his graduation. (They spent the last month and a half at "KinderCamp." Their graduation was a performance of their "camp" songs, hence the walking stick and camp shirt.)

Isaac's main teacher, Ms. Laura.

His classmates at "KinderCamp." This was the photo on the cake.
He has 8 other kids from his preschool class headed to his elementary school, which is pretty neat.

Headed out to ACE's graduation.

Crazy Hair

About a month ago, Isaac had "Crazy Hair Day" at preschool. We went all out, with a a blue mohawk! He was so excited and so proud.

Although it didn't take much effort for Isaac to achieve the craziest hair at "Crazy Hair Day," it doesn't take any effort at all for our other two children...

This is literally how the two of them wake up on a daily basis, especially ACE!
